Ohio State Football might have a transfer QB pecking order established.

QB Transfer Packing Order Established…

The Ohio State football team is still in search of their next quarterback. We know they’ve been poking around the transfer portal, and there are a few guys who they’ve been linked to. There’s been some noise that they have established a pecking order as to who they might want.

It sounds like the Buckeyes are keeping Riley Leonard as their number-one target. Leonard entered the transfer portal after an injury-plagued year at Duke. He was really good with the Blue Devils in 2022 though and would be an excellent addition to the Ohio State football team.

Leonard visited Notre Dame each of the last two days and left without a commitment. Word has gotten out that he might be scheduling a visit with the Buckeyes soon. In my eyes, Leonard is the best quarterback available in the transfer portal right now, even ahead of Dillon Gabriel.

Of course, the Buckeyes have also been linked to Cam Ward from Washington State. Ward was one of the first names attached to Ohio State when he entered the portal. Personally, I think Leonard would be a better fit than Ward because of his decision-making.

Leonard doesn’t turn the ball over as much as Ward does. He’s also more of a threat running the ball. He would have a lot better weapons to throw to at Ohio State than he ever did in Durham. He’d be able to put up some really good numbers before heading to the NFL.

Personally, I’d be okay with landing either of these guys for a year. Both are capable guys that can lead the Buckeyes to wins in a lot of matchups. It’s still unclear which one they’re going to get, but I have to imagine a decision from them will come in the next couple of weeks or so.
