“Our motto is like, nobody touches the court before they touch the classroom,” said George. “They get to come up here, get their homework done, get some literacy tutoring with us or one of our

other tutors … and then they get to go downstairs, they get fed dinner, they get basketball training, they get to play basketball games or sometimes we’ll like play dodgeball, stuff like that.”

The organization serves more than 150 students from kindergarten through early high school.

“It’s mostly kids in West Louisville,” said George. “we have some Portland kids, we also have kids all the way out from Park DuValle.”

On Thursday, Jan. 25, the Portland Avenue facility reported that it was broken into for the second time in recent weeks. Hinton said the break-in happened around 10:45 p.m. the night before.
